Here's a Little Throwback
To Our First Foster.
Tex-Anna
Tex-Anna came to us with a lot of problems, it took us about a year to help her work through her issues. She had food/resource guarding issues, didn't know how to walk on a leash, was terrified of most noises, and had zero confidence.
Sadly Tex-Anna was a victim of abuse. However the past does not define who a dog is or what they are capable of becoming.
Sasja (German Shepherd) and Tex-Anna (Border Collie) both fosters. |
Tex-Anna was a project, but she was so worth putting the time into!
After Sasja passed away we adopted Dante. Tex-Anna helped show him the ropes and house rules, she also comforted him while we dealt with some initial separation anxiety that he had.
Eventually we knew she was ready for a family of her own, we had worked her past all of her behavioral issues and most of her quirks except for our hardwood floors (she was terrified to walk on them so we had rugs everywhere). An expanded version of Tex-Anna's story HERE.
She ended up being adopted by some amazing friends of ours and now lives a happy life, brushed daily and spoiled rotten by two kids and their parents who love her. And the best part? We still get to see her!

DeleteWhat a pretty girl!
ReplyDeleteThanks Nola!
DeleteThat's such a great story! I just love foster homes that really put the extra effort into making the dogs they take in as adoptable as possible. You rock!
ReplyDeleteThank you! We work hard on it. :-)
DeleteSuch a great happy ending for Tex-Anna!
ReplyDeleteThanks guys!!
DeleteShe is gorgeous! I love the idea of fostering but suspect I would fail over and over again. I think if the dog was going to someone I knew and that I could see frequently, that might be about the only way I could do it. You guys did an amazing thing, thank you for fostering. It takes special people to do that.
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining the blog hop too!
