Ain't Nobody Got Time for That!

Ain't Nobody
Got Time for That!

Happy Fit Dog Friday!

I can't afford to be sick with four furry maniacs in the house who need exercise!

Please tell Mr. Flu to take himself elsewhere. He is not welcome or needed at our house.
My poor voice is nearly gone, it's cracking on the phone when i'm at work...the clients on the other hand find it hilarious.

The dogs like the loss of voice part, this morning Dante decided he could pretend to not hear me when I said it was time to go home. He clearly was not done peeing on all the wonderful smells in the field. Rain or shine we go, preferably shine, and not when it's a crazy downpour. But we always get out and play because four dogs with cabin fever - Ain't Nobody Got Time for That!

"You weren't serious were you?"
And Mikey certainly doesn't like to call it quits when it comes to his jolly ball!

And if I don't exercise them, then they start to become little monsters.
Not that you'd believe it looking at this precious face.

"Come on mom, just another throw? Please?"
To be honest I'd really rather just curl up on the couch and nap, or watch my favorite show with a hot cup of tea to soothe my scratchy throat.

But alas, the time to play is now!

Our trainer always mentions how people talk too much to their dogs...maybe I should try just hand signals and body language for a while. I talk to my dogs all day and it's ruining my voice.

What about you?
Would your dogs know signals if you tried not talking to them?

"AAAAAAAA, is mine scratchy too?"

  1. That's tough to be sick when you have pets that NEED their exercise. Hope your feeling better soon. And I bet Dante & Mikey do too!

I'm finally getting on top of this flu I think. :-)

  2. Oh no! I'm sorry you're sick, too and I hope you feel better soon!

I've actually been chastised for not talking to my dogs when I've shown training videos to people before. LOL! I think they do learn to tune out our "endless chatter" though. I still talk to them throughout the day but I try not to when they are learning. :D

  3. Ha! Blueberry watches me more than listens. Which is probably good because I don't always say the correct thing for what I want from her. Sorry you are under the weather! I have a head cold that is working its way into my chest. I kinda feel like a zombie so I can take B for a walk though I don't really remember it. Hehehe

  4. Hope you feel better! I was sick in October (first time all year!), and it was terrible with the three young dogs and one sick Roxie. I've never been more thankful for having a yard.
Nola is trained for most cues with both verbal and hand signals, and responds well to both.

    1. This is my first bout too this year, thankfully Ziva is good with signals. The boys are starting to get it now. :-)
      Good job Nola!

  5. Through our nose work and tracking sports, Mom has learned to shut up and let us be and it has been wonderful. If there is constant chatter, they really just block most of it out. We are much better behaved now that she is quiet and only talks when it is necessary. Hand signals are always good to know. It has been a huge help now that my senior sister has gone almost deaf over the past year.

    1. I need to try that I think. :-) With four dogs in the house they are definitely tuning me out more than i'd like.

  6. Helloooo ~ Thank you for the Christmas card and putting the correct zip down so that I got my card. Hand signals I know hand signals. I did a post on what happened to me it was William's Perfect Storm http://sweetwilliamthescot.blogspot.com/2014/10/williams-perfect-storm.html
Yep not everybody does the same hand signals.
    Happy Holidays

  7. Aw man, sorry to hear Mr. Flu came to visit you. I've been there with Bronchitis and while it was a little weird at first not being able to talk to the pups, they did great just following me and interpreting my body language. Do you have the option of hiring a professional dog walker/runner to get the pups some exercise while you're not feeling up to it?
    Feel better real soon!!

    1. I would hire someone if I knew someone or had a good recommendation, I'm a bit protective of who works with my pups. :-)

  8. Sorry to hear you're feeling under the weather! That's when doggie daycamp or dog walkers can be saviors. I use hand signals for come, wait, sit & down. They work as well as verbal as long as the dogs are looking in my direction at the time. Feel better soon!

    1. I loved doggy daycare when we did it, but sadly the facility we used doesn't have a random drop off option. They have people sign up for a certain amount of weeks at a time to keep the group consistent. Otherwise i'd do it!

  9. I train with hand signals as well as verbal cues. I also try not to chatter too much when we're running agility. Hope you feel better soon! Being sick is no fun at all.
