A Home For Christmas.

Eddie

Here is a sneak peak of some of our Christmas photos!

Eddie is really hoping for a home for Christmas, oh Santa please! He's doing great but mama has decided she's really not up for four dogs in her home long term. It's a lot of work, and I know some of you have four dogs and we applaud you!

Any tricks for keeping sane with four or more dogs? We'd love any ideas you might have!

  1. Four is a LOT of dogs. But, you can tag team them and think of it more like you and your husband have 2 each.

When I had 2 dogs I was overwhelmed, so I really can't imagine what 4 are like - especially when 2 are newbies! I hope someone with a multi-dog household has some advice! I know of some people that work in rescue that have more than 4 dogs. The downside to that is those dogs don't get out much. It's usually a big deal when they do get a chance to get out of the house for some exercise. So I applaud you for not only juggling 4, but doing your best to make sure they have all their needs met so destruction doesn't set in.

    1. Thanks so much!
I'll never do four again, it's been a lot harder than I ever imagined. And you're right, it'd hard to meet all the individual needs but we're trying! It's even harder because i'm supposed to be working with Dante on his flyball training for his first upcoming competition and i'm struggling! Hopefully we'll find a home soon for one of the boys!

  3. This is something I have bucketloads of experience in. :-) I have found that the house remains calmer and everyone is well rounded if I rotate everyone. One group goes outside to fresh air and sun, the other group is inside. At a certain point in the day, we switch. They of course have together playtime where everyone gets to run around like loons, and that is usually before bed. Each dog gets individual attention on a certain day per week--car rides, walks, special trips. It really helps. I hope Eddie finds his forever before the holidays. You said four--who is the other one?

    1. Eddie, Mikey, Dante, and Ziva. :-)
I like the rotation idea, I wish our weather was as nice as yours! When it's wet they don't like to be stuck outside. LoL I like your specific day for each dog! That's a great one! I think i'm thinking too much about them all at the same time as opposed to just one at a time. I think picking a dog to work with for a day would help me keep my sanity.

  4. Phew, 4 dogs ARE a lot. I only have 2 (and that's plenty!!), but several of my dog walking/pet sitting clients have 3+. They hire me when they need a little breather ;-)
I do hope that Eddie will find his forever home soon. He looks like a total sweetheart.

Thank you again for our Christmas Card! We loved it :-)

      You're welcome for the card!!
I'm looking forward to having only my two again, we're taking a break after these guys.

  5. I hope he gets a home! I have four, but three of them are small. Two are high energy, one is medium/high energy but independent, and one is so lazy she's practically furniture. Having a set schedule has helped hugely, especially since Roxie joined the family. That way each dog gets their own time and exercise. Lots of chews and dogs that don'd mind being crated when mama just needs a minute works, too. :p

    1. I wish I had a lazy one, but even our senior is not a lazy lump. LoL I need to work on my schedule for sure.
