I have been thankful to have had both dogs and cats in my life. My sons when little also had the lucky experience of watching and helping raise a litter of pups & of kittens. Enrichment! Faythe @ GrammyMouseTails visiting from Brain's Home :)
Nice post! So true too. Yelling in human relationships or animal/human relationships does nothing to enhance the connection and can indeed put up a wall that wasn't there before. And Blueberry will be the first to tell anyone that I am notorious for being on my phone. Her method to get me to stop is to lean on me or stare at me until I surrender and give her my full attention. How is it that some of us humans think technology is better than a real flesh and blood being right in front of us?
When I'm ignoring Ziva - usually talking to a human..she'll flop on the ground, flip onto her back, and start wiggling like a silly dog. She's very dramatic, that behavior started in our shaping classes when my instructor was talking. LoL
Fantastic article! I think you're right that not many people have a strong relationship with their dogs, but I wouldn't want it any other way. Trust, respect and consistency are huge. :)
Heck, if I want attention and my Human is working on the computer, or I want it to work on my post, I just lay my head across the key board and make the computer go crazy! So fun!
Other wise, I just start barkin' and refuse to shut up! 'Course my Human knows I don't use the "bark card" unless it's really, really important! Like, I need to go OUT NOW!
Dante does that too! He's good at getting himself all tangled up in daddy's computer lines, cables, and especially his head phone cord if he's being ignored. :-)

DeleteI'd much prefer that to the endless staring. I tell her she's being very passive-aggressive. ;)
DeleteHahaha! Passive agressive vs. Drama queen :-)

ReplyDeleteThanks! I wouldn't want it any other way either. It's more work but very worth all the training!
DeleteAnd that relationship is Priority #1!
