House Rules

House Rules
  • Rule #1: No Running in the House! Just like many parents before me...we try to keep the crazy outside. Running means getting kicked outside to go play.
  • Rule #2: No Horsing around on the Furniture - please see rule #1.
  • Rule #3: Inside Voices Please. Yes bark/holler when someone is at the door parents like being notified of friends or strangers. But please let our guests in the house and then stop yelling. Dante likes to "HUFF", it is how he greets people but some people find this a bit scary. He's a large dog and even though he's wiggling all over the place and not jumping, his "HUFFING" can be a bit intimidating. "Yes Dante, we get it. You said 'hi', and they love you too."

  • Rule #4: No Dessert unless you eat your dinner. Not even a snack!
And don't you try to change my mind!
  • Rule #5: Please wipe your feet before coming inside. Legs and tails too if you're all wet!

  • The Cats Rule: And don't you forget it. Of course they won't let you either!
"Mer says' this is my spot, now you move along!"

Did I miss anything? What are the rules if any at your house?

  1. Haha - love the video!

Gosh, I guess I don't have any rules like you do. I used to play "wall ball" with my last dog Shadow in the house. I'd throw a racquetball against the wall and she'd catch it as it bounced off the wall. We had to do this in the summer because it was way too hot to play outside. I also don't have a no playing in the rule house. It's Arizona, so even sticks are allowed to be chewed inside in the a/c. Although Blueberry is perhaps the one dog I've ever had that hasn't needed any rules - she's pretty well-behaved inside. About the only thing I can think of is a rule that applies to me - I must make sure the bathroom door is closed or else I know the toilet paper roll - no matter how full - will be taken off the roll and outside to be destroyed. ;)

    1. Hahaha! Wall ball sounds fun! We have broken the running in the house rule when it was nasty and raining giant drops outside. We try to keep the running to a minimum though because we have things they could crash into and with hard floors they tend to slide. But lots of goofing off for sure happens! :-)

  2. I don't mind when Bain runs around the house. I don't have anything he can knock over, until I buy a home I'm on a mission to have the least amount of things as possible, the less things to move the better, lol.

No treats until he finishes his dinner. Quiet during our dinner and giving us the appropriate amount of space.

Our new rule is not being let up onto the couch without permission, or doing a trick first. Out of everything I've done, I admit that I've let that one go! Ha.

    1. I keep trying to cut down on stuff, I just don't like clutter in general but somehow we manage to keep accumulating stuff! :-) I like your couch rule! We had a permission before couch rule too for a while, it lasted all of a couple months I think.

  3. We don't have a lot of rules but mom is always telling us "inside voices". We wipe our paws on mom's white robe so the floor stays clean and she can wash her robe every day. Oh, we go in and out a million times and that is okay. We are not allowed to counter surf but only one of us is tall enough anyway. Mostly we just are charming.

    1. Hahaha! Charming is good!
I bet your mom loves that you share the mud with her. :-)
Thankfully Dante and Ziva have never counter surfed *crossing fingers*, Dante could definitely reach if he wanted to!

  5. LOL those are great rules. We have many of the same ones...which are broken all the time, especially wipe your feet. Loved the cute video. Thanks so much for joining the hop!

    1. I try to catch the feet, but sometimes hubby forgets and in come the dogs! We have lightly colored hard wood floors so I try to keep the muddy prints down to a minimum or it drives me nuts! :-)

  6. We don't have rules! LOL although I do try and wipe their feet and bodies before they come in if they are wet/dirty. They are allowed to run (we have the room) and they do have their own couch, so that's not an issue. I have labs, the day they don't eat, they are off to the vet. :-)

Thanks for joining the blog hop!

    1. Especially Delilah! I know she eats just about everything. :-) I bet your dogs love having their own couch, we have two couches - one is off limits to the dogs (although I do catch them on it occasionally) we have a couple family members who are sensitive to the hair so we try to keep the one couch as hairless as possible.
The other couch we have is for snuggling with the pups.

  7. Only rule is not to destroy the house bit by bit (which seems to be happening at the moment the more Willow comes out of her shell - I don't know whether to celebrate her newly found confidence or cry!!) ;)
