Why Use Seresto?

Seresto Dog Flea & Tick Collars

"We were sent this Seresto collar from Chewy.com in exchange for an honset review. Dz Dogs only supports products that we feel are relevant to our readers. This blog contains NO affiliate links, all thoughts and opinions are our own."

Can you see it?

It's the small thing grey band hiding under Dante's orange water collar. That's his Seresto collar!

What is a Seresto Collar?
To sum it up simply: Seresto is a lice, flea and tick collar for both cats and dogs it also aids in the treatment and control of sarcoptic mange.

But it's way more than that. We've done the messy liquid flea meds and I hate them with a passion of all passions. It was messy, it was stinky, and it left a grease slick on the back of the dogs spine that lasted waaaaayyyy toooo long. It also got on everything, and usually after greasing it down the back of my dogs spines they would shake, and then it got all over everything including me. Thus this process was left to the outdoors only even in the winter it meant having the pups hang on the back deck until I was sure they weren't going to send it spraying all over my living room.

We also tried different brands, and nothing seemed to really stop the ticks when we would go hiking. And trust me I've tried the natural methods too. Different topical essential oil sprays, I've tried rubbing dryer sheets on the dogs, natural herbal wipes, and praying to the tick gods to make them go away! Maybe my dogs just taste that good though...

Initially I was worried Seresto would cost more, but on the contrary it's a better deal. At least it is if you go to Chewy.com

Seresto lasts 8 months and costs $52.24 if you put it on autoship, which we've done so that it arrives every 8 months when I need to replace it. Whereas Frontline which we tried, costs $59.84 on autoship and only has 6 months worth of medicine.

And from our experience it works!

What do we like about Seresto?
- It's clean! No more nasty stinky greasy mess on your dogs back.

- It's waterproof, though swimming with it regularly does reduce the life of the collar. Usually we take it off when we go swimming or take a bath. But you don't have to!

- It's pretty safe. Every pet parent must make their own decisions about meds and treatments, but our vet likes Seresto and said that my dog could eat the collar and would end up sick from the plastic not from the medicine. Consult with your personal veterinarian about your pet, this is what works for us.

- It is a slow time released med that is absorbed through the skin, however just being in contact with the collar isn't enough to cause concern. That being said however it is recommended that small children limit contact the first day or so after putting on a brand new collar.

Since using Seresto we've definitely noticed a decline in ticks that actually attach to the dogs. Sometimes the ticks still bite, but usually they are dead when we find them and they fall right off. Occasionally we have to pull one out, but it's loads better than before. This is definitely our favorite way to fight ticks. And usually I can tuck the seresto underneath their collars for pictures, sometimes though we just take them temporarily off.

Thank you Chewy! We love our collars!
