This month Chewy sent us some yummy freeze dried pork liver treats to review!

Hmmmmm Pork!

Even though we have been living fence free for six months now, I still have problems trusting Dante and Ziva. Well...lets be honest...mostly Dante. He's my fearless, adventuresome boy who thinks the whole world is his giant play pen waiting to be discovered!  Thankfully he doesn't run away, but what he does do is explore. Sometimes a little to far.  So when we're outside working on the property (where the work never ends) Dz Dad and I have taken to carrying treats in our pockets and calling Dante back and forth the whole time we work.

We've also been keeping treats right by our front door so that when we do our nightly potty routine we have a reward waiting - this little trick has dramatically increased the speed of the potty routine! Hooray!

Our favorite treats for these little games are treats that don't make a big mess, and so freeze dried treats have risen to the top of our list!

What We Loved About Primal Treats:
  • Ingredients:  Pork Liver
  • Primal Munchies are made in the US with vegetarian fed pork.
  • These treats contain no preservatives, sugar, salt, grain, or gluten.
  • These treats have a stinky scent up close, but it isn't hardly noticeable if you're not holding it to your nose. LoL   And since they aren't super stinky you don't have to worry about your hands smelling bad after a training session.
  • They hold their shape in a bag or in your pocket really well, and don't leave behind a huge crumbly mess.
The One Thing We'd Change:

My only complaint about these treats is that they are just a little to big. I don't mind a large treat like this for the pups bedtime potty routine, but for just training purposes they are too large and don't break apart easily. I'm sure you could cut them with a knife but that's just a little too much effort for me when I'm looking to just grab something to-go on my way outside. And for people with small dogs this treat would probably be rather filling, and not something you'd want to use for a whole training session.

That being said, Dante and Ziva definitely loved these treats and were happy to come running when called to get one!

We were given one bag of Primal Pork Liver Munchies in exchange for an honest review, DzDogs only supports brands and products that we feel are relevant to our readers.

Thank You Chewy!!

  2. Lol, Dante sounds just like my Missy. She's always up for an adventure and her recall could definitely be better!! We love freeze-dried treats for the pups. Interesting that these particular ones don't break into smaller pieces. I've usually been lucky with breaking freeze-dried treats up. We haven't tried the Primal Pork Liver Munchies yet though.

    1. These ones don't break very easy unfortunately, we tried. I bet Dante and Missy together would be handful of adventure energy! He LOVES exploring. LoL

  6. I think I'll give these a try. I've only tried a few freeze-dried treats and they were really crumbly and made a mess. I think they would fit pretty well in one of Haley's treat balls, then she can work on it for a while. Thanks for the review!
