Halo Salmon Treats

Halo Salmon Treats
For Dogs or Cats!

*Just so you know: Their are no affiliate links on our blog, we do not get paid for getting you to click on anything.*

This is our first time being a #ChewyInfluencer and Dante & Ziva are super excited to join the family of pet bloggers for Chewy!

Dante as you can see takes the job of treat tester very seriously.
This month we were given the opportunity to test out Halo "Liv-a-Littles" Wild Salmon Treats! These treats make for a fun food topping when crumbled over the top of your pets dinner, or they can be given whole for a yummy training treat. Dante and Zive of course vote for just eating the whole canister in a sitting if they could.

So the first thing I love about this product is that it says Ingredients: Freeze-dried wild salmon.  I try to avoid food or treats that have any artificial colors or flavors in them.

"Can I has them now?"
Second thing is that the dogs were like kids in a candy shop! With kind of a hard marshmallow like texture even I was intrigued, plus I had 100% undivided attention from Dante and Ziva - putting these treats at the top of my list for when we work in high distraction environments.

Dante trying to sneak a taste from grandma.

When working with Dante he's my easy dog, any sort of stinky food and I have his attention. Just a slight wave of my hand in front of his nose and I can walk him past ANYTHING.

Ziva on the other hand can be a treat snob, so if I know i'm going to be working in an environment where we might encounter a lot of dogs I need something I can rely on - usually her tennis ball. But she does love fish so if I have some fishy treats lying around I try to remember to grab them on our way out the door. The stinkier the better! When working in high distraction environments I'm looking for an amazing treat that will make it worth the dogs effort to pay attention to mom.

I think these salmon treats fit the bill!

No treat snobs here!! Strike the double beg pose for grandma!
If your dog is nose driven or maybe you need stinky treats for a treat snob like Ziva, these are STINKY! But they are also clean, unlike the cheese I bring with me sometimes. Being freeze-dried the salmon treats don't get my hands all sticky and gooey by the end of a training session. They get a bit messy when you crumble them but I expected that.

We loved these treats and they are definitely going on our list of favorites! If you want to order some of your own, check out Chewy.com they have some awesome online deals for healthy pet foods/treats and they ship fast!

Big thank you to Chewy.com for letting us try out these treats, and a thank you to grandma!

  1. It's too bad Chewy doesn't deliver to Canada. They have such great products, and it looks like your pups are really enjoying the Halo Salmon treats! Bain loves stinky treats too, he is also obsessed with anything beef.

  3. Chewy is a good company. I've ordered things from them. What is the list of ingredients? Do they have egg in them? One of my dogs can't have egg

  5. Honey loves stinky fish treats too. My only problem with many of the fish treats we've bought over the years is cost (btw, you might mention the cost in future reviews; it is helpful to know).

Once I bought smoked salmon at the grocery store for dog treats because it was cheaper than anything I found at the pet store.

    1. Thanks for the tip! I hadn't thought of putting the price into my post. :-)

  6. The stinkier the better in our house too! I have some Salmon treats from Plato ($9.99) at our local Agway and they are what helped Delilah learn to ring the door bell. I am always looking for good quality treats without all that added garbage. Thanks for sharing!

  7. Oh yay, I'm a sucker for single-ingredient treats, so thanks for talking about these!! I have to second what Nola said - Dante's collar is pawsome!
