Pet Blogger Challenge 2016

Ring in the New Year!
2016

Last year we participated in the 2015 Pet Blogger Challenge you can see that post HERE:
Pet Blogger Challenge 2015 well, it's that time again.

Join the Pet Blogger Challenge Jan 9th, 10th and 11th

Let The Challenge Begin!!

  1. How long have you been blogging?

Hello fur-friends! I'm the Dz Dog Mom!
DZ stands for Dante and Ziva. I initially started blogging in June of 2014 with the intention of just sharing our stories. As of 1/08/2016 we have a total of 237 published posts! That's crazy to think about! Anyone new to our blog should know that Dz Dog Adventures is just that, our adventures! We love to exercise and promote healthy lifestyles for dog and humans alike, one of our favorite motto's' is, "An exercised dog is a happy dog."

Many of our favorite memories with our dogs come from our hiking adventures, swimming with the pups, skijoring, snowshoeing, trail running/canicross, urban mushing, camping, and flyball!

Our blog has changed a little bit, we are huge supporters of rescue so we've been involved with fostering. Currently we are on a break from fostering for my (mom's mental health), flyball training with Dante, and prepping for our upcoming move. A move is stressful enough with balanced dogs and it wouldn't be fair for a foster to go through stress. We'll pick it up again after we've settled.

However, true to starting this blog our big focus is gear reviews for adventure dogs, promoting positive pet training techniques, healthy living, responsible pet ownership and busting myths about bully breeds! I hope you stick around as we head into 2016!
  2. What is one thing that you accomplished in 2015 that made you proud?

We started flyball with Dante in June of 2015 and he loves it! This weekend is actually his first flyball competition, new post coming right up!
    Flyball Tournament Here We Come!

  3. Which of your blog posts was your favorite and why?

    This is sooo hard!!
Sand Puppies is a favorite because we got to spend the day at the coast with our very first foster dog while her family was on vacation.

Me, Myself, and Jack is fun because I finally graduated. And we had Jack (another foster) that we were working on training, because he was pretty crazy for a while. Jack was quite a challenge for me personally, he taught me to be more patient, take a big breath and move on.

But I think my big favorite post was Broken Top.

Broken Top was our big accomplishment for our summer/fall hiking adventures this year. It was a girls weekend plus Dante, it wasn't as long as we had meant for it to be but we did 6.4 miles and had a wonderful weekend in Bend, Oregon playing games and drinking craft beer. I love my friends!
  4. What is one thing you've done this year to bring more traffic to your blog?

This year we were more proactive about joining different dog lover communities, we are involved in a couple Facebook communities that allow us to post our blog articles (check with admins before doing this! Not all groups let you.)  We also push our blog through our Instagram channels and have worked harder this year on making sure we comment on other blogger's posts - making them feel more inclined to check us our and of course comment in return. It's more fun for everyone if you are involved.
  5. Which of your blog posts got the most traffic this year?

How We Helped Our Nervous Dog Finally Feel Safe - was our biggest post this year, I think it helped that this post was featured on the Dodo.com!

Ziva has always struggled with anxiety,we knew that when we first adopted her but we've been working really hard on building a relationship with her on a strong foundation of trust and helping her to learn new things to gain some self confidence. We love our little pibble princess!
  6. What is one blog that you read religiously - other than your own - and why?

    We love to read:
Something Wagging This Way Comes - Dz Dog Dad and I have always talked about retiring to a sailboat someday. Back in 2009 we used to sail competitively with a local club, it was AWESOME!! When Hubby first started talking about sailing I thought he had lost his mind, sailboats? Boring! But we ended up taking lessons and I loved it. After we did some lessons we made friends at the local yacht club and became crew for a boat type called a Thistle. They are small dinghy styled boats, and we quickly became hooked.
Racing was awesome, we traveled, raced, and won a lot in our class!
I really miss sailing and became kind of a die hard until we moved, moving we tried to make it work but the long drive and long hours on the lake plus the long ride home made it impossible to keep up. I love to read Something Wagging because they recently retired to a sailboat with their Golden Retriever named Honey. I love hearing their adventures and how they are learning to live aboard a sailboat! It has us seriously thinking we'll do it someday!
  7. What resources do you rely on to improve your blog?

Dz Dog dad is amazing at helping me with editing my writing. He can't always help me, lets be honest - i'm hard to keep up with! But when he does help I tend to take his suggestions and insight.

    Thanks sweetheart for your help!
  8. What is the best piece of advice you can offer to other bloggers?

Just write what you love to write about! Don't worry about your page views, your blog is for you. If you're honest and real, people tend to engage more.
  9. What is your vision for 2016?

2016 is going to be a fun filled new adventure for us, we're moving! Not sure on the timeline just yet, but sometime between March and June. We'll still be in Oregon but we'll be relocating for Dz Dog Dad's job. It's kind of scary but i'm really excited about it!

For 2016 we would like to do more gear reviews, and I look forward to finding new places to hike and take the pups. I'm also planning on getting certified as a Professional Pet Dog Trainer - hopefully after we move. I also want to improve my camera skills this year since I have a fun new camera to play with.
  10. Is their an aspect of your blog that you'd like input on?

I would love to hear from my readers one thing you LOVE and one thing you think that I can improve on with our blog.
Thank you for taking the time to read our page!

  6. I loved your post and pictures on Broken Top. As I said, we loved the hike near there and want to go back for sure.

Where are you guys moving to in Oregon? Maybe we can get together for a hike sometime when we are down.
